With the aim of supporting the medical staff by relieving them of paperwork and administrative work, Medicine students in their fifth and sixth year of study have volunteered to support the University Hospital of Verona during the current Covid-19 emergency and staff shortage.
Stefano Tardivo, Professor of Hygiene and Preventive, Environmental and Occupational Medicine at the Department of Diagnostics and Public Health, and Risk Manager of the University Hospital, has been appointed as the Project Supervisor.
17 students have joined the initiative, all of them now close to graduating and qualifying for the medical profession, and therefore knowledgeable in the medical field. The students, who have been available since Monday, 6 April, work in shifts throughout the day, between 9 am and 5.30 pm, strictly from home.
Each student has the task of contacting by e-mail the University Hospital staff in charge of taking nasopharyngeal swab samples, as required by the health surveillance programme.
